#1: The Customer Is Not Always Right
The amount of entitlement some people display is absolutely unreal. And there’s a special variety of it that seems to appear in retail situations. Maybe people imagine that because they’re planning to spend money, they have free rein to behave however they want. But anyone who’s worked retail knows that the customer is not always right.
In this case, I would have been very tempted to tell the woman, “OK, let me serve you what we have prepared right now.” And then, I would hand her a frozen hamburger patty and wish her good luck. Which is why it’s probably good I don’t work in a restaurant.
